Theology of the Body for Study Groups

Facilitator Aides

Facilitators are the core of our study group program. A facilitator has either completed all 24 sessions of A New Language or has received formation at a Facilitator Formation Day conducted by Imago Dei.

It is the responsibility of the facilitator to organize a group, plan the meetings, make sure that everyone has the necessary materials, conduct the meetings as directed, and collect registration forms and evaluations from the participants.

To assist facilitators, the study guide contains a Facilitator's Guide with detailed instructions on all of these responsibilities. A PowerPoint presentation on the study guide and a brochure can be useful to explain its scope to pastors and prospective participants. A
sample bulletin insert is also provided.

The study guide contains citations to the homilies delivered on the theology of the body by Pope John Paul II.  These homilies were originally published in English by Pauline Books and Media under the title Theology of the Body and the study guide citations are to this edition.  Since the publication of the study  guide, Pauline Books and Media has published a new translation, Man and Woman He Created Them.  This is the edition that is now available for purchase, so Imago Dei has prepared the citations for it and they can be found here.

Additional background information has been requested on how the study guide program was started, why we require certification of facilitators and evaluations by participants, and how Imago Dei was formed. The documents provided below address these topics. Please feel free to download them and use them to help others appreciate A New Language and the work of Imago Dei.
